Initial healing usually occurs within one to two weeks as the gum tissue closes over the area. Complete healing of the bone beneath the gums takes longer and may continue for several months. During this time the body gradually fills the socket with new bone. At Newman Dental we monitor healing during follow-up visits when necessary. Following post-operative instructions helps ensure proper recovery.
