Frequently Asked Questions

Temporary sensitivity is common after whitening treatments. The whitening process temporarily opens microscopic pores in the enamel, which can increase sensitivity. This sensation usually resolves within a few days as the enamel naturally remineralizes. At Newman Dental we often recommend desensitizing toothpaste to reduce discomfort. Sensitivity typically improves quickly once whitening is complete.

Dry socket occurs when the protective blood clot in an extraction site becomes dislodged too early. Without the clot, the underlying bone and nerves can become exposed, causing significant discomfort. This condition typically appears several days after the extraction. At Newman Dental we treat dry socket by placing a medicated dressing to relieve pain and promote healing. Prompt treatment usually resolves symptoms quickly.

Initial healing usually occurs within one to two weeks as the gum tissue closes over the area. Complete healing of the bone beneath the gums takes longer and may continue for several months. During this time the body gradually fills the socket with new bone. At Newman Dental we monitor healing during follow-up visits when necessary. Following post-operative instructions helps ensure proper recovery.

Some light bleeding or oozing during the first several hours after an extraction is normal. Biting gently on gauze helps apply pressure and allow a protective clot to form. Avoid vigorous rinsing, drinking through a straw, or smoking during the first day. At Newman Dental we provide detailed post-operative instructions to support proper healing. If heavy bleeding continues, please contact our office.

Some gum tenderness can occur after dental procedures, especially when work is performed near the gumline. This soreness usually improves within a few days as the tissue heals. Gentle brushing and warm saltwater rinses can help soothe the area. At Newman Dental we take care to minimize tissue irritation during treatment. If soreness persists or worsens, we recommend contacting our office.

Temporary crowns occasionally become loose or fall off. If this happens, try to keep the crown and contact our office as soon as possible. The temporary crown protects the prepared tooth and maintains spacing for the final restoration. At Newman Dental we can usually re-cement the temporary crown quickly. Until it is replaced, avoid chewing on that side of your mouth.

Occasionally a restoration may feel slightly high when you bite. Even a small difference in bite pressure can feel noticeable. At Newman Dental we check the bite carefully after every restoration, but adjustments may be needed once anesthesia wears off. A quick adjustment can restore comfort and balance. If your bite feels uneven, we encourage you to contact our office.

Some sensitivity after a filling is common, especially if the cavity was deep. You may notice temporary sensitivity to cold foods or pressure when biting. This sensitivity usually improves gradually over several days to a few weeks. At Newman Dental we place restorations carefully to protect the tooth and nerve. If sensitivity becomes severe or does not improve, we recommend a follow-up evaluation.

Yes. Digital X-ray systems typically use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. They also produce clearer images that can be enhanced on a computer screen. At Newman Dental we use modern digital imaging technology to capture detailed images quickly and comfortably. This allows us to detect problems early while minimizing radiation exposure. Digital imaging has become an important part of preventive dental care.

After Your Dental Visit

Dental X-rays are generally considered safe during pregnancy when appropriate precautions are used. The radiation from dental imaging is extremely low and protective shielding is available. In many cases routine imaging can be postponed unless there is an urgent dental concern. At Newman Dental we discuss imaging decisions carefully with patients who are pregnant. Our goal is always to balance safety with proper diagnosis.

Many dental problems begin beneath the surface of the teeth or below the gums. Cavities between teeth, infections at the roots, and bone loss are often invisible during a visual exam. X-rays allow us to see these hidden areas and diagnose conditions before they become painful. At Newman Dental we combine imaging with clinical examination to gain a complete picture of oral health. This allows us to recommend treatment based on accurate information.

The frequency of dental X-rays depends on your oral health history and risk factors. Some patients may need them more frequently if they have a history of cavities or periodontal disease. Others may require them less often if their oral health is stable. At Newman Dental we recommend imaging only when it provides useful diagnostic information. X-rays help us monitor changes that cannot be seen during a routine exam.

Yes. Dental X-rays use extremely small amounts of radiation and are considered very safe. Modern digital X-ray systems require significantly less radiation than older film-based systems. At Newman Dental we use digital imaging technology that allows us to capture clear diagnostic images while keeping radiation exposure very low. These images help us detect problems that cannot be seen during a visual examination. Identifying issues early allows us to treat problems more conservatively.

Yes. Nitrous oxide, sometimes called laughing gas, is a safe and effective way to help patients feel more relaxed during dental treatment. The gas is inhaled through a small mask and produces a mild calming effect. Patients remain awake and able to communicate during the procedure. At Newman Dental we carefully monitor patients throughout treatment to ensure safety and comfort. Many patients find nitrous oxide makes their visit much easier.

3D printing is transforming many aspects of modern dentistry by allowing highly accurate dental appliances and models to be produced directly from digital scans. At Newman Dental we use advanced 3D printing technology to fabricate items such as night guards, retainers, surgical guides, dental models, and provisional restorations. As the technology continues to evolve, 3D printing is also being used for temporary crowns, dentures, orthodontic appliances, and other customized treatments. Digital workflows allow restorations to be designed with exceptional precision and produced efficiently. We continually evaluate new digital technologies so we can expand the ways 3D printing benefits our patients.

X-Rays & Dental Safety

Artificial intelligence can assist dentists in analyzing X-rays by highlighting areas that may require attention. At Newman Dental we use AI as an additional diagnostic tool alongside our clinical examination. The technology helps identify early signs of cavities, bone changes, and other conditions. It does not replace the dentist’s judgment but enhances diagnostic accuracy. Combining technology with experience helps us evaluate your oral health more carefully.

Digital scanning uses advanced technology to capture a precise three-dimensional image of your teeth. At Newman Dental we use the Trios scanner to create accurate digital models without traditional impression materials. This process is faster and more comfortable for patients. The digital models allow us to design restorations with excellent precision. Digital scanning also improves communication with dental laboratories.

Designing natural veneers requires careful planning and attention to detail. At Newman Dental we analyze the shape of the face, the lips, and the proportions of the existing teeth. Digital records and photographs help guide the design process. The goal is to create restorations that harmonize with the patient’s features. This thoughtful approach helps ensure the final smile looks natural and balanced.

Technology & Digital Dentistry

No. When veneers are carefully designed they can look extremely natural. The key is thoughtful planning and conservative preparation. At Newman Dental we use photography and digital analysis to design veneers that match the patient’s facial features and natural tooth proportions. Our goal is not to create an artificial look but to enhance the existing smile. Subtle improvements often produce the most beautiful results.

Porcelain veneers are thin ceramic restorations placed on the front surface of teeth. They can improve shape, color, and alignment while maintaining a natural appearance. Although veneers are sometimes associated with dramatic smile makeovers, they can also be used very conservatively. At Newman Dental we design veneers to complement each patient’s facial features and natural smile. Careful planning ensures the final result looks balanced and natural.

Cosmetic bonding uses tooth-colored composite material to improve the appearance of teeth. It can repair chips, close small gaps, or smooth uneven edges. At Newman Dental we carefully match the material to the surrounding enamel for a natural result. The procedure is usually completed in a single visit and requires minimal removal of tooth structure. Bonding is often one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available.

Professional whitening can brighten teeth by removing stains caused by coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, and natural aging. Many patients notice a significant improvement in the brightness of their smile after treatment. At Newman Dental we evaluate the teeth to determine whether whitening is appropriate and safe. Some types of discoloration respond better than others. Our goal is to achieve a natural and balanced result.

Dental implants are designed to be a long-term solution for missing teeth. With proper care they can last many years and often decades. Implants help preserve jawbone structure and restore normal chewing function. At Newman Dental we evaluate each patient carefully to determine whether implants are appropriate. Good oral hygiene and routine dental visits help ensure long-term success.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Healing time varies depending on the location of the implant and the patient’s bone health. In most cases the bone integrates with the implant over several months. During this period the implant becomes stable enough to support a final crown. At Newman Dental we monitor healing carefully before placing the restoration. Proper healing ensures the implant functions successfully for many years.

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. After the implant integrates with the bone, a crown is attached to restore the visible portion of the tooth. Implants are designed to function and feel similar to natural teeth. At Newman Dental we coordinate implant treatment carefully to ensure proper placement and restoration. This approach provides a stable and long-lasting replacement for missing teeth.

Yes. Bonding uses tooth-colored composite material to rebuild the shape of a chipped tooth. When performed carefully, the restoration blends naturally with surrounding enamel. At Newman Dental we shape and polish the bonding so it looks and feels natural. This procedure is often completed in a single visit. Bonding is one of the most conservative ways to repair minor damage.

Dental Implants & Missing Teeth

An onlay is a restoration used when a tooth needs reinforcement but does not require a full crown. It covers and strengthens the damaged portion of the tooth while preserving healthy structure. Onlays are carefully designed to restore strength and function. At Newman Dental we often use onlays when we want to preserve as much natural tooth as possible. This conservative approach helps maintain the integrity of the tooth.

With proper care, many crowns last ten to fifteen years or longer. Their lifespan depends on oral hygiene, bite forces, and regular dental visits. Grinding or chewing hard objects can shorten the life of a crown. At Newman Dental we monitor crowns during routine exams to ensure they remain healthy and functional. Maintaining good oral hygiene helps extend their longevity.

A crown is recommended when a tooth has lost significant structure due to decay, fracture, or previous restorations. Larger fillings may not provide enough strength to support the remaining tooth. A crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth and restores strength and function. At Newman Dental we evaluate the remaining tooth structure carefully before recommending a crown. Our goal is always to protect the tooth for long-term stability.

Yes. If a retainer is lost, it is important to replace it as soon as possible. Teeth can shift surprisingly quickly without proper retention. At Newman Dental we can take a digital scan and fabricate a new retainer. The replacement appliance will be designed to fit comfortably and maintain alignment. Acting quickly helps prevent unwanted tooth movement.
Restorative Dentistry

If a retainer no longer fits, it may indicate that the teeth have shifted slightly. In this situation it is best to schedule an appointment so we can evaluate the fit. Sometimes a new retainer is needed to maintain alignment. At Newman Dental we can quickly fabricate a new appliance using digital scans. Replacing a retainer early helps prevent further movement of the teeth.

A retainer is an appliance used to maintain the position of teeth after orthodontic treatment. Teeth naturally tend to shift over time, especially during the first months after alignment. Wearing a retainer helps stabilize the teeth in their new position. At Newman Dental we design retainers that fit comfortably and maintain proper alignment. Consistent use helps preserve the results of orthodontic treatment.

The length of orthodontic treatment varies depending on the complexity of the case. Some mild alignment issues may be corrected in several months, while more complex cases may take longer. At Newman Dental we evaluate your teeth and bite before estimating treatment time. Digital planning allows us to map the movement of teeth step by step. Our goal is to achieve healthy, stable results while protecting the surrounding structures.

Yes. Orthodontic treatment is increasingly common among adults who want to improve alignment or bite function. Many adults choose clear aligners because they are discreet and removable. At Newman Dental we evaluate the teeth and bite to determine whether orthodontic treatment would be beneficial. Straightening the teeth can improve both appearance and oral health. Proper alignment also helps maintain restorations and gum health.

Yes. At Newman Dental we offer clear aligner therapy to gradually move teeth into improved alignment. Clear aligners are removable trays that apply gentle pressure to shift teeth over time. Treatment begins with a digital scan of the teeth so we can design the movement carefully. Patients typically wear each aligner for a set period before progressing to the next stage. Regular monitoring ensures the teeth move safely and predictably.

If a night guard cracks or breaks, it should be replaced to continue protecting the teeth. Continuing to wear a damaged appliance may reduce its effectiveness. At Newman Dental we can take a digital scan and fabricate a replacement guard. The new appliance will be designed to fit comfortably and protect the bite. Prompt replacement helps prevent damage from grinding forces.

Orthodontics & Retainers

Night guards typically last several years depending on grinding intensity and daily use. Over time the material may show wear from repeated pressure. At Newman Dental we evaluate night guards during routine visits to ensure they are still functioning properly. If the appliance becomes worn or damaged, it may need replacement. Maintaining a well-fitting guard ensures continued protection.

Many patients experience jaw muscle tension from grinding or clenching during sleep. A night guard helps distribute pressure evenly and reduces strain on the jaw muscles. While it does not cure every cause of jaw pain, it often provides significant relief. At Newman Dental we adjust night guards carefully to ensure proper comfort and function. Consistent use can reduce muscle fatigue and protect the teeth.

Yes. Grinding places excessive pressure on the teeth and can gradually wear down enamel. Over time it may also cause cracks, fractures, or damage to restorations. At Newman Dental we evaluate wear patterns and recommend protective treatment when grinding is present. A custom night guard can significantly reduce these forces. Protecting the teeth early helps preserve their long-term strength.

Store-bought guards can offer minimal protection but they are not designed for your specific bite. They often feel bulky and may not distribute pressure evenly. Custom night guards are fabricated using precise digital scans so they fit comfortably and function properly. At Newman Dental we design appliances that protect the teeth while allowing natural jaw movement. This results in better comfort and more reliable protection.

A custom night guard is an appliance worn during sleep that protects teeth from grinding and clenching forces. It is designed specifically for your bite using digital impressions of your teeth. This ensures a comfortable fit and proper distribution of pressure. At Newman Dental we carefully adjust night guards to work with your bite and jaw movement. Wearing the appliance regularly helps protect the teeth from excessive wear.

Grinding can occur for several reasons including stress, bite imbalance, or sleep-related muscle activity. Some people clench their teeth subconsciously during sleep without realizing it. Over time this pressure can damage teeth and strain the jaw muscles. At Newman Dental we evaluate the bite and identify signs of grinding. Protective appliances such as night guards can reduce these forces and protect the teeth.

Common signs of grinding include worn or flattened teeth, jaw soreness, headaches, and tooth sensitivity. Some patients also notice chipped teeth or cracked fillings. Because grinding often occurs during sleep, many people are unaware they are doing it. At Newman Dental we evaluate the teeth for wear patterns that indicate grinding. Identifying grinding early allows us to protect the teeth and reduce muscle strain.

If a tooth is knocked out, it is important to act quickly. Gently rinse the tooth without scrubbing it and try to place it back into the socket if possible. If this cannot be done, store the tooth in milk or saliva and contact our office immediately. At Newman Dental we will evaluate the tooth and surrounding tissues to determine whether it can be reimplanted. Quick action significantly improves the chances of saving the tooth.

Grinding, Bite & Night Guards

A dental emergency usually involves severe pain, swelling, trauma to a tooth, or uncontrolled bleeding. Situations such as a knocked-out tooth or significant infection should be evaluated as soon as possible. At Newman Dental we encourage patients to contact our office if they are unsure whether a situation is urgent. Our team can help determine the appropriate next steps. Prompt care often improves the outcome of many dental emergencies.

Sudden sensitivity may occur if enamel becomes worn or if a cavity develops. Cracks, grinding, or gum recession can also expose sensitive areas of the tooth. At Newman Dental we examine the tooth carefully to determine the cause of the sensitivity. Depending on the findings, treatment may involve a filling, protective restoration, or desensitizing therapy. Addressing the issue early helps prevent further discomfort.

A cracked tooth can range from a minor enamel fracture to a deeper structural crack. Because cracks can worsen with biting pressure, it is important to evaluate them promptly. At Newman Dental we use imaging and careful examination to determine the extent of the crack. Treatment may involve bonding, a crown, or other protective restorations. Early intervention often prevents more serious complications.

Chipped teeth are common and often occur from biting hard foods or minor trauma. Many small chips can be repaired with tooth-colored bonding in a single visit. At Newman Dental we examine the tooth to determine whether the fracture affects only the enamel or deeper structures. If the chip is larger, a crown or veneer may be recommended for protection. Treating the chip early helps prevent the fracture from worsening.

A lost filling leaves the tooth vulnerable to sensitivity and decay. It is best to schedule an appointment so the tooth can be evaluated and restored promptly. At Newman Dental we examine the remaining tooth structure and determine the most appropriate restoration. Sometimes a new filling is sufficient, while larger areas may require an onlay or crown. Prompt treatment helps prevent further damage.

If a crown comes off, try to keep the crown and contact our office as soon as possible. In many cases the crown can simply be cleaned and re-cemented if the underlying tooth is still healthy. Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth until it is replaced. At Newman Dental we will evaluate the tooth and determine why the crown came loose. Our goal is to restore the crown while protecting the underlying tooth structure.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus and usually appear on the lips or surrounding skin. While dentists cannot cure the virus, treatment may help reduce discomfort and speed healing. At Newman Dental we evaluate the lesion and may recommend medications or supportive care. Laser therapy may also help reduce symptoms in certain cases. Early treatment can sometimes shorten the duration of an outbreak.
Urgent Dental Problems

A mouth sore should be evaluated if it persists longer than two weeks, becomes unusually painful, or changes in appearance. While most sores are harmless, persistent lesions should always be examined to rule out more serious conditions. At Newman Dental we include oral cancer screenings as part of routine examinations. Careful evaluation of oral tissues helps ensure early detection of abnormalities. When identified early, most conditions can be treated successfully.

Most minor mouth sores heal within one to two weeks. During this time the tissue gradually repairs itself and discomfort usually improves each day. If a sore persists longer than two weeks, it should be evaluated by a dentist. At Newman Dental we carefully examine any lesion that does not heal normally. This allows us to rule out other conditions and recommend appropriate care.

Canker sores can be triggered by several factors including minor trauma, stress, certain foods, or nutritional deficiencies. Some people are naturally more prone to developing them than others. Although they are uncomfortable, they are not contagious and typically resolve on their own. At Newman Dental we evaluate the sore to confirm that it is a typical canker sore. If they occur frequently, we may discuss ways to reduce irritation or identify possible contributing factors.

Canker sores are common ulcers that can appear on the inside of the cheeks, lips, or tongue. Although they usually heal on their own within one to two weeks, they can be painful while eating or speaking. At Newman Dental we evaluate the sore to confirm the diagnosis and rule out other conditions. In some cases we may treat the area with a soft tissue laser to reduce discomfort and promote faster healing. If sores occur frequently, we can also help identify possible triggers.

A bite can feel different if a tooth shifts slightly, a restoration changes shape, or inflammation affects the supporting structures. Even small changes in the way teeth meet can be noticeable during chewing. At Newman Dental we evaluate the bite carefully to determine what may have changed. Sometimes a simple adjustment restores balance, while other situations require restorative or orthodontic treatment. Our goal is always to create a comfortable and stable bite.

Mouth Sores & Soft Tissue

Headaches can sometimes be related to muscle tension from grinding or clenching the teeth. When the jaw muscles remain active for long periods, they may create tension that radiates to the temples or sides of the head. At Newman Dental we evaluate the bite and surrounding muscles to determine whether dental factors are contributing to the headaches. If grinding is present, a custom night guard may help relieve pressure on the muscles. Identifying the source of tension can often reduce headache frequency.

Morning jaw soreness often occurs when the jaw muscles work excessively during sleep. This usually happens when a person grinds or clenches their teeth overnight. At Newman Dental we evaluate the bite and look for signs of tooth wear or muscle strain. A custom night guard may be recommended to reduce pressure on the teeth and jaw muscles. Protecting the bite can help relieve discomfort and prevent long-term damage.

Teeth may feel rough when plaque, tartar, or staining accumulates on the surface of the enamel. This buildup can occur even with good brushing habits because certain areas are difficult to clean completely at home. Professional cleanings remove these deposits and restore a smooth tooth surface. At Newman Dental our hygienists carefully remove buildup while protecting the enamel. After cleaning, many patients notice their teeth feel smoother and easier to keep clean.

Teeth may appear worn when enamel gradually erodes due to grinding, clenching, or acidic exposure. Over time this wear can flatten the biting surfaces and shorten the teeth. At Newman Dental we evaluate the pattern of wear to determine the underlying cause. In many cases a night guard or bite adjustment can help protect the teeth from further damage. Addressing wear early helps preserve the remaining tooth structure.

Food trapping often occurs when the contact between two teeth becomes open or weakened. This may happen due to shifting teeth, worn restorations, or gum changes. When food repeatedly becomes trapped, it can irritate the gums and increase the risk of cavities. At Newman Dental we evaluate the contact area and determine whether a filling, crown adjustment, or orthodontic solution is needed. Restoring proper contacts helps keep the gums healthy and comfortable.

Teeth can feel loose when the supporting bone and gum tissue are affected by periodontal disease. Trauma, grinding, or bite imbalances can also contribute to tooth mobility. At Newman Dental we evaluate the stability of the tooth and examine the surrounding bone and gums carefully. Treatment focuses on stabilizing the tooth and addressing the underlying cause. Early intervention often improves the prognosis significantly.

Swollen gums may occur when bacteria accumulate along the gumline and cause inflammation. Food trapping, plaque buildup, and certain medical conditions can also contribute to gum swelling. At Newman Dental we examine the gums carefully and measure the depth of the gum pockets to determine the cause. Treatment may include professional cleaning, periodontal therapy, and improved home care. Healthy gums are an important foundation for long-term dental health.

Bleeding gums are often an early sign of gum inflammation caused by plaque buildup along the gumline. This condition, called gingivitis, is common and usually reversible with professional cleaning and improved home care. At Newman Dental we evaluate gum health carefully and provide guidance on brushing and flossing techniques. In some cases deeper periodontal treatment may be recommended to restore healthy gums. Addressing gum inflammation early helps prevent more advanced periodontal disease.

Sensitivity to sweets often indicates that the inner portion of the tooth is being stimulated through weakened enamel or a small cavity. This type of sensitivity can sometimes be an early sign of decay. During an examination we check the tooth carefully for cavities or worn areas. If a cavity is present, restoring the tooth usually resolves the sensitivity. Treating the problem early often allows for a smaller and more conservative restoration.

Cold sensitivity can occur when enamel becomes worn or when gums recede and expose the root surface of a tooth. Cavities, cracks, and grinding can also contribute to sensitivity. At Newman Dental we examine the teeth carefully to determine what is causing the discomfort. In many cases the issue can be managed with desensitizing treatments, protective restorations, or addressing grinding habits. Our goal is to reduce sensitivity while protecting the long-term health of the tooth.

Pain while chewing may indicate a crack in the tooth, decay under a restoration, or inflammation around the root. Because chewing places pressure on the tooth, small problems can become noticeable during eating. At Newman Dental we evaluate the tooth carefully to determine whether the pain is related to the nerve, the bite, or the surrounding structures. Treatment may involve adjusting the bite, restoring the tooth, or addressing deeper issues. Identifying the cause early helps protect the tooth from further damage.

Pain when biting can occur when the ligament around a tooth becomes inflamed or when a tooth develops a crack. It may also occur if a filling or crown is contacting unevenly when you bite. At Newman Dental we evaluate biting pain carefully using examination and imaging to identify the cause. Once the source of the discomfort is identified, we can recommend the most appropriate treatment. Addressing the problem early often prevents further damage to the tooth.

If you have recent X-rays or dental records from another office, you are welcome to bring them. These records may provide helpful background information about previous treatment. However, we often take our own diagnostic records to ensure accuracy and consistency. This allows us to evaluate your oral health using our own imaging systems and standards. Having complete records also helps us monitor changes over time.
Dental Symptoms & Concerns

Digital scans and photographs allow us to study the teeth and bite in great detail. At Newman Dental we use these records to analyze tooth alignment, wear patterns, and how the upper and lower teeth come together. Photographs also help patients see what we see during the examination. This makes it easier to explain findings and discuss treatment options clearly. These records are an important part of thoughtful diagnosis and treatment planning.

At Newman Dental we gather several types of records so we can evaluate your oral health comprehensively. These typically include digital X-rays, photographs, periodontal measurements, and a digital scan of your teeth. Each of these records provides important information about the teeth, gums, bite, and supporting structures. Together they allow us to analyze your oral health carefully and plan treatment with precision. These records also help us monitor changes over time.

A new patient visit typically lasts about 60 to 90 minutes. This allows enough time for a careful examination, diagnostic records, and a discussion about your dental history and concerns. We believe the first visit should never feel rushed because it forms the foundation for your future care. Taking time to evaluate your teeth and bite thoroughly helps us create a thoughtful long-term treatment plan. Many patients appreciate having the opportunity to ask questions and better understand their oral health.

In many cases a cleaning can be performed during the first visit if time allows and your gum health is stable. If signs of gum disease are present, we may recommend a different type of periodontal treatment before performing a routine cleaning. This ensures that the care you receive is appropriate for your current oral health condition. At Newman Dental we take a personalized approach and recommend the treatment that will best support long-term health. Our goal is always to treat the underlying cause rather than simply addressing surface symptoms.

At Newman Dental we rely on high-quality diagnostic images to evaluate your oral health accurately. X-rays taken at other offices can sometimes be helpful, but image quality and diagnostic standards vary. Taking our own images ensures we have the clarity needed to evaluate the teeth, roots, and surrounding bone properly. These images also allow us to create a baseline record so we can monitor changes over time. Our goal is always to make careful and well-informed decisions about your care.

At Newman Dental, your first visit is designed to give us a comprehensive understanding of your dental health and your goals for care. We begin with a conversation about your dental history, any concerns you may have, and what you would like to achieve with your smile. In most cases we take a full set of digital X-rays and perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw joints. We may also take digital scans and clinical photographs so we can analyze your bite and tooth structure carefully. After the examination we review everything together and discuss any findings or recommendations so you can make informed decisions about your care.
